The Romanian alphabet is based on the Latin alphabet, but contains some additional letters such as "ă", "â", "î", "ș" and "ț".

The Romanian vocabulary has influences from Latin, but also from other languages such as Slavic, Greek, Turkish and Hungarian. There are also regional differences in vocabulary, especially between Daco-Romanian and Romanian Moldovan.
