Hungarian Translation

Hungarian

Hungarian belongs to the Finno-Ugric language family, which in turn is part of the Uralic language family. Hungarian vocabulary has influences from different languages due to Hungary's historical contacts with other peoples and nations. There are words from Latin, German, Slavic and Turkish that have been integrated into the Hungarian language.

The Hungarian alphabet is based on the Latin alphabet, but contains some special letters and diacritical marks. One example is "ű", which does not occur in any other language.

Although Hungarian is the dominant language in Hungary, there are also minority languages, including Romani, German, Croatian and Serbian, which are spoken by various ethnic groups in Hungary. There are also various Hungarian dialects, which differ in pronunciation and vocabulary depending on the region. However, the standard dialect is based on the dialect of Budapest.
